Long before Trouty McGee swam the Big Horn River, he made his first splash in the hearts of our family during a camping trip in Missouri. What started as a souvenir from a little trout ranch gift shop—a cuddly stuffed rainbow trout—quickly became the hero of nightly campfire tales.

Each evening, after long days of fishing and splashing in the river, our kids would gather close to hear the latest adventure of Trouty McGee. Whether he was navigating wild rapids, befriending river creatures, or escaping the jaws of a hungry heron, Trouty’s adventures were full of wonder, laughter, and just a little bit of mischief.

In the summer of 2022, our family took a real-life leap and moved from Missouri to Thermopolis, Wyoming. We traded old familiar waters for the crystal-clear currents of the Big Horn River—and Trouty came with us. Now, his stories are inspired by drift boat rides, fly fishing on the banks, and floating under Wyoming’s wide open skies.

The scenery may have changed, but the stories of Trouty McGee continue to flow-just like the river he calls home.
